  1. This looks like a huge vulnerability for the Irish tech sector. I wonder what would happen if the cables were cut?

  2. How do you monitor underwater cables?

    “Still underwater?”

    “Yep”

    “Still cables?”

    “Nope…. Wait…. Yes, still cables”

  3. If they cut cables and it has any major effect on us, I guarantee that everyone on this sub will bemoan the government for not investing in the defence forces (which is true), as if they majority of them didn’t spend years against any proposed increased spending to defence.

  4. It’s not a boat it’s a ship. Ironically they would probably have already ‘monitored’ these cables with a submarine years ago, which is a type of boat. Declan Power is a bullshit artist.

  5. Well it’s a good thing somebody is, because if something happened to those cable we would be in heap of trouble.

  6. good thing our military is under equipped with outdated equipment and we can’t defend ourselves.

our country at least needs a proper air force and a proper navy force. we’re an island nation and both these things are needed to defend

  7. The irish nevy could take it out with under water charges and the russain Navy couldnt stop us there fleet Can barely Operate it joke from what iv heard about the shit they call the nevy

  8. >In recent days, the Defence Forces and Britain’s Royal Navy have been monitoring a number of Russian ships in Ireland’s exclusive economic zone.

Something tells me the lions share is being done by the Brits.
