I am a huge pokemon fan and artist and over the last few years have been working on a region of original pokemon inspired by Malta.

I’m looking for more ideas on elements of Maltese Culture/Cousine/Flora & Fauna that would make great Pokemon concepts, and who better to ask than you guys!

Any and all ideas are appreciated!

    * Ġgantija (Rock/Ground?)
    * Ftira (Grass/Fire?)
    * Lampuki
    * Tallinja (Steel/Grass?) and Traffic (Steel/Poison?)
    * The Great Siege (Rock/Fight?)
    * Colonization/Uprises (Fight/Fire?)
    * The maltese language itself, amalgam of different languages (Dark?)
    * Money, shared factor of many different stereotypes, evolving from coins(s) to banknote(s)?
    * Painted Frog, the only amphibian naturally occurring on the island
    * (Very *farfetch’d* one)Constructions site (a crane) > building, coupled with an “immigrant” pokemon that evolves with it (Slowpoke+Shellder type of evolution) to turn into one of two ideas: workforce or golden passport scheme. If the building does not evolve in this way, it can evolve by level increase into the idea of Landlords

    EDIT:

    A colleague of mine just suggested Ġbejna (said something about a dark Ġbejna as well?)

    Potential ideas:
    – Lampuki has already been mentioned.
    – seahorse
    – starfish
    – sea urchin(rizza)

    – rota ta karrettun / karozzin
    – a Maltese cross (knights cross)
    – church
    – village patron saint
    – political parties emblem
    – blokka fletsijiet

    It would be cool to see some based off the neolithic temples in Malta, ground/rock type.

  16. These are amazing! LOVE the Merill, Luzzu and Black chicken super attention to detail and the figolla is just <3

    Alot of fantastic ideas are already mentioned

    Just don’t forget:

    * Maltese Weasel (Ballottra) also featured on the Maltese 1c coin
    * Filfolensis Lizard of filfla (legend has it, it grows 2 tails)
    * Esther’s gecko mite ? mites that live on geckos in Qormi valley

  17. I was always thinking about making a ROM Hack of pokemon Fire Red with the region based in Gozo. These pokemon seem like theyd fit in perfectly :,)
