Garden hoe also works as a rough translation of tentsletje.
Dutch courage is another one
no cuz its pronounced hoochaarden not hoegarden
Not really because (bullet point time!)
* “Hoe” is pronounced completely differently.
* “Gaarden” is not in any way a garden, but more like a mossy, smelly wasteland along the Grote Gete where hippies slink around and sometimes have fun in a bar they like to call “the museum”. It’s not called that, Hoegaarden is just silly and stupid and don’t make any of them be aware of this stupid pun. They’ll repeat this ad nauseum like those idiots at Dour shouting d’hoereeeeuuuuh.
Don’t! Please don’t, I beg you 🙁
Saw a drake-meme (you know the one) where the top image was “Stripclub” and the bottom one “Hoegaarden” lmao.
No one actually speaks english in belgium (german is the first language we learn because it’s one of our national language) so we never saw the connection before.
