I know that this is kind of off topic but I’m posting this for a Finnish friend. She’s been hunting for this song for 20+ years and I thought it’d be worth a shot to post it here for her.

Back in 2000-2005 in Finland there was a music video on TV constantly. It’s maybe not a Finnish band but that’s where she saw it. The song started with a small bass guitar solo. You can hear it here (I worked out the notes with her): [https://soundcloud.com/magic-hoof/bass1](https://soundcloud.com/magic-hoof/bass1)

It was a very hyperactive video, like some crazy parkour or something all the time. There was a male singer and the style was similar to the group Bomfunk MCs. It was definitely more electronic than a rock style.

It was a pretty fast song. She says she remembers something about monkeys either in the name of the song, or maybe it was in the music video there may have been a cage with monkeys in it staring at or watching something. Maybe she’s confusing it with something else though and monkeys is a wrong lead to give. She says there also may have been a blue tint to the overall music video.

The vocals throughout the song were fast, kind of like Don Johnson Big Band. If it helps any, she recalls that the song Firevision – Stars was airing on TV around the same time, so this may pinpoint it to around 2003 or so.

If anything, she’s about 100% sure that the bass riff I posted is in the beginning of the song, and she’s 95% sure that it’s a pretty hyperactive song including some parkour or other hyperactive movements in the video.

EDIT: And just to rule these out, the following are NOT it:

Basement Jaxx – Where’s Your Head At, Chemical Brothers – Midnight Madness, Bloodhound Gang – The Bad Touch

  1. Probably not it, but White Stripes – Seven Nation Army starts with a bass riff and it’s from 2003. No monkeys in it though..

  2. I definitely recommend looking at Beats and Styles songs, their first album came around that time. Also Mighty 44 might have something, their producer JS16 was also behind Bomfunk so the style is similar.

  3. I feel like she’s remembering a channel intro for MoonTV and not a music video at all. But the problem is that everyone who watched or produced content for MoonTV were so stoned it’ll be impossible to confirm

Your melody sounds familiar but I just can’t place it (see above)
