  1. The story so far:

Union: “We want our pay to rise at least in line with inflation, is that too much to ask? Oh, but if you want us to talk, first make sure the tariffs reflect the new minimum wage.”

Deutsche Bahn: “OK, new minimum wage in the tables backdated to 1st March. But your other demands — not possible, sorry. We can offer you about half.”

Union: “Wow, are you refusing to negotiate?”

DB: “No, *you’re* the ones refusing to negotate.”

Union: “Well, we’re just going to have to go on strike again. Two days this time, we’re going to bring the whole country to a standstill!”

DB: “This is unacceptable. Millions of innocent people unable to get to work — why drag them into it? They’re the ones who are going to suffer.”

Union: “You know you could prevent that by just giving us a decent offer we can actually discuss, right?”

Journalists: “Uh, guys — looks like DB is just gave its top executives hundreds of millions of euros in bonuses.”
