I got some too, my grandfather died and we found them hidden, the best part is that he’s Italian and he has never been to Poland, when he died was my first year in Szczecin and felt soooooo weird. Recently I put them in a frame and hang at home.
If you look at Warynski’s ear and hair on 100 note, especially when folded, you will see a rat 🐀 🙂
Probably still have somewhere couple millions old złotys . I remember when i was a kid we were playing with those money like from monopoly.
Also my grandma still talks with millions. So for example “I gave million złoty for those things in a shop” (100 zł today)
Prices were fixed for goods by the communist authorities, including for alcohol. In the late 70s-early 80s, a half-liter bottle of Żytnia vodka cost 103 PLN. This led to a joke about the 100 PLN Waryński bill:
-Why does Waryński have such a long face?
-He just found out he’s 3 PLN short of a bottle of vodka.
