Refusing to help a vessel in distress is the pinnacle of cowardice. Anyone involved in this decision needs to be prosecuted.

Whether you like asylum seekers or not, you have to agree that it is criminal to let struggling people remain in trouble like this. Ignoring them once they get into trouble is not going to stop people from attempting to cross, as seen in Italian waters as well, rescuing them is at least the decent thing to do. We do not have to be heartless while boat crossings are dealt with, we should still show the world that the UK has some compassion left.
So if left to their own devices, dinghies will just drift back to France? Interesting…
You know every day the boats only get half way across right? The French follow/watch the boats up to the boundary and then the UK come out and take them to the UK shore.
“Dover Coastguard and Border Force deliberately refused to assist an unseaworthy, overcrowded and broken-down dinghy in UK waters,” they added. Instead, they “watched” while the boat was pushed back by the wind and tide into the French Search and Rescue Region (SRR), “where there was no French vessel to assist them.”
