I actually rather like the noise living next to a railway track in West London and now it links to The Elizabeth Line I’d be pretty sure it helps house prices upwards.

NIMBYs (attempt to) strike again!
There’s no direct line between Burton and Leicester, with the most direct route involving a change at Derby.
It’s not a new line either, they are just resurrecting a previously used one from the sound of it.
I really hope East Midlands railway gets the contract to run it, not cross country since if cross country get it, the service will be strangled in its cradle.
