  1. They release dates a few weeks in advance usually. If you keeping going back and refreshing you’ll eventually get something a lot closer

  2. If your NCT is within the next 6 weeks……put yourself down on the priority list……you’ll get an appointment in about 4 weeks.

  3. Here’s what you do, if your NCT is still within date.
    Ring them up and say you want a test, they’ll put you on a priority list.
    they will get you a test date in the next 3-4 days.
    If this test date is more than 28 days away email info@ncts.ie and request a free test in line with section 5 of the [customer charter](https://www.ncts.ie/customer-charter/)

    If we all do it and hit them where it hurts, the wallet, then they’ll sort themselves out sharpish.

    We aim to ensure that the average lead time for an appointment at an individual NCT centre is less than or equal to 15 days. You will be provided with a test, free of charge, where an appointment cannot be offered within a 28 day period, unless any of the following apply:

    the test is overdue by more than 7 days at the time of contacting us;

    an appointment was offered 7 days or more prior to the test due date;

    you have made specific requests regarding suitable days, times or dates;

    you have declined or rearranged two or more appointments;

    you have failed to attend an appointment; or

    you have previously accepted or requested an appointment outside of the 28 day period.

  4. Call them up. I did and luckily enough a cancellation had just come through for 30 mins time. I am close to the centre so it was perfect.

  5. It says it right there, see other suggested centres. Every time someone on here posts about not getting a test in their local centre for months, I always find one somewhere with an availability in the next few days. Just drive further to get to it.

  6. Dealing with mental health issues mine was out a couple of months before I did anything. Rang them and had it in a month.

    Ringing is your best bet

  7. For anyone else with an upcoming NCT in the next 9 months, book your test as soon as possible. Don’t wait till its next month.
    Apparently the contractor who runs the tests got fined last year for this shit-show, so maybe it will improve soon?
