So lets say the worst happens: They cut some cables.^(and decide to do it at the 1/20th of the cable in our waters.) Then a ship pulls the cables up, repairs them, then lowers them back down again – less than a day per cable. Big deal? Should I buy a gun to shoot the kids doing knick-knacks? I thought Russia didn’t have much of an operable navy? Defence Forces … not in a million years mate. Just called them the Irish Monitoring the Situation Forces, that’s what they are anyways. How’s that neutrality thing working out? These ships have always passed up and down the west coast. Only now its suddenly a big deal. Russians have likely mined many of the undersea cables in the north atlantic including internet, gas, oil and electricity. Theyve been at this in ernest the last 5 or 6 years. Unless we had conscription there’s no reason to have a large navy , army or airforce , best to rely on allies sure Ukraine is a case in point Should the be refueling in the eez.
