  1. the site is real site.

the address for the police station is real.

there is a vanhempi konstaapeli Jarno Keskinen.

the linkedin seems to be actual finnish police one too.

Police emails are always etunimi.sukunimi@poliisi.fi, so thats real.

So pretty much leaves the phone number, and it is atleast a finnish phone number, that starts 029 (use to be in only government use) with no known reports on any commonly used number search apps. They have been used by scammers too after they came to open circulation.

I mean… nowadays it is hard to judge by the grammar, and havent seen the finnish part of it so…

But the 12147number, it is fujitsus redirecting services, it has been used by scammers, but also used by legit companies.

could be real tbh, but could also be the best scam ive ever heard or seen about, still, only sus thing really is the phone number.

If i was you id call the “itä-suomen poliisin kansalaisten neuvonta palvelu 0295 419 800” or use the polices chat robot to get on hold with real person and ask them if its real. Or otherway contact itä-suomen poliisi.

i think it is real, not a scam

  2. Erhm, the number is starting with 029 (or +35829 with countrycode) which means that its an real goverment official number. And the links do lead to official police sites. I dont think its a scam…

  3. So from a quick google session i found that the start of that number (minus the last 3 digits) match the number of the itä-suomen poliisilaitos. Also the e-mail address you mentioned seems legit. You should probably call that specific police department and ask if that’s an actual phone number there.

  4. This looks pretty legit. I’d probably call the police department dispatch and ask them if they have a cop with that name and ask them to connect me if so.

  5. Before posting here, you did call the Eastern Finland PD telephone exchange and ask for senior constable Keskinen, right? Or how else would you be sure this is a scam and not a real thing, because everything it from the phone numbers to emails looks real.

  6. As others pointed out, the phone number based on the first digits is legit, this is not a phishing attempt.

It seems that this cop has just copied his email signature to the text message to avoid having to type all that manually, so it has come out a bit funny.

  7. Your name, phone number, and email are known by Finnish authorities, like kela, vero, and the same information is shared to police whenever they need it.

  8. Seems legit. Usually scammers don’t try to call you, or at least hang up instantly after letting it ring once to bait you calling them back and then text message you. All goverment agencies I’ve gotten a call from that I’ve not picked up have sent a text message after, letting me know about the attempted call.

  9. The number 12147 seems to be some kind of SMS sending service center. Contact the police department directly and ask if it is a legit SMS and if they need to talk to you.

  10. They do send really suspiciously looking mails and sms’s. I had one case open from 2 years back, which I didnt remember. Got very similar mail which I never reacted. Some time went past and they called me. It was legit call, they had all the info which I filed in the criminal case on poliisi’s web page etc.

In these cases I’d say best thing is to call to the mentioned police station and ask to speak with the name mentioned in the mail. If such a name exists there, you for sure get the information if he/she has sent the mail or not. Just remember to dig the police stations number from somewhere else than the mail you received.

  11. That is legit number, you should try call your local police station and ask what is this case.
Also that number where you did get that textmessage is called Seurue which is legal and reliable.

  12. I would have thought that if he really tried to call you, you would see it in missed calls. Also usually they call will no id appearing in your display. Have you noticed anything strange about your bank account or anything else? Very fishy as these types of messages have appeared before posing as police.

  13. Thanks for a lot of comments and suggestions, I’ll go or call a police department and ask for advice. The number called was not a “private number” so i did not took the sms and email seriously. I’ll post if it was actually real 😅

  14. Even though it looks legit, a quick google search of ‘Jarno Keskinen poliisi’ result in nothing. I would not call back

  15. Police can actually call you and email you (but emails are send with secure mail so not direct emails).

It is very easy as it is said, you call the number of the actual police station.
