Does any local council have responsibility for how much shit goes in our rivers?
Tbh local politics should be about local issues rather than the tribalism of national politics.
While local authorities can do alot to stop the release of raw sewage into rivers and the ocean it really is a problem best tackled at the National level, especially since the privatised nature of water delivery and sewage disposal has created an information blackhole about the actual state of our rivers.
Fuck off is it fuck going to be a key issue, none of them give the slightest bit of a fuck, it’s literally profitable for the rivers to be polluted. Just put actual fines in place for the pollution, that aren’t just pennies to these companies polluting them and maybe something will change. Oh wait that won’t put any money in the mps pockets will it, whoops silly me.
Hilarious to think the relevant information here is “for local elections”.
We’re poisoning ourselves. All of us, regardless of money or status, because we keep on letting industries or intensive agriculture get away with it.
And yet, people are shocked when people say “Well, if the boss of an industry choose the easy way to deal with pollution by throwing it in the river, perhaps it should be made possible in our laws that this guy gets to spend 3-5 years in prison with no possibility of having an “arranged” time (like, do your time in your home).
But oh boy, it is quite extreme ! What would happen to the JOBS, PEOPLE ? the JOBS are obviously more important than having DECENTLY CLEAN FUCKING WATER FOR US AND OUR KIDS TO DRINK, right ? RIGHT ?
I mean, the opposite is obviously the argument of a eco-commie. And what is a good commie, I wonder ? 😐
Keep on listening to the traitors that keep on switching between being an MP and lobbyists, they’re sure to have our well-being in mind.
