Just returned from a 2 week trip to find this all over my shower in my apartment. Was clean before I left and housemate is insisting he’s not responsible. Does anyone know what’s causing this? No idea if it’s just dirt, some other issues or he’s thrashing the place and not admitting it.

1. unless something was leaking from the shower or from the ceiling then that was done by someone

2. Looks like mould. It’s your housemates fault for not getting rid of it

3. If that’s the tray at the bottom it could be something that was cleaned there (maybe football boots or something with muck on it) and the shower not rinsed out properly afterwards.

   Is there a smell off it? Could be a bit of mildew forming as well.

4. I would have said soap scum, but you’ve said you cleaned it before you left, so I’m stumped.

5. Use any spray that has chlorine in it. Does the trick. Health warning, do not mix bleach with chlorine, u less you want a chlorine gas appetiser. Up to you

8. Just looks like regular shower dirt, and it being more visible after not being used would make sense. It dries out and becomes more clear.

   A scrub with hot water and a bristley brush would do the trick.

12. Your housemate is lying lol. No way this appears on its own to that extent over two weeks especially if there were no issues with it before.

14. That’s weeks of grime build up of soap scum, body fats and dampness

15. That is in no way 2 weeks worth of dirt.

    Everything probably appears different after 2 weeks away.

17. Could it be a mix of lime (in the water already) and soap scum? Lime content here is very high and when the water dries out it leaves a yellow/orange residue

18. Some bleach spray is good for this because you spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes then wash off, no touching required.

19. I’ve seen enough netflix serial killer documentaries to know there is probably someone missing, likely dismembered in your shower and buried in the back garden 👀

    Maybe get a lock for your room 🔐
