I actually had a conversation about a place in Waterford that’s stalled for the last 2 months with my SO. This must be why.
Loads of appartments were been built on my road in Dublin, all stalled as they can’t afford to finish them.
Not sure what their waiting on, only going to get more expensive. Not much is going to come down. Currently building my house atm and only thing that has come down is lumber.
Money getting devalued at rapid rate.
Unproductive money spending = inflation
Always has been true, is true, will always be true.
That’s why there was no inflation 2008-2020 despite zero rates as spending was very limited across EU.
Stalling construction paid for by the government is just a ridiculous concept – everyone loses money by just waiting. It’s not like the workers walk away, and suddenly your construction costs are at 0 – you still have leased and rented equipment, you have other costs incurred by the construction companies. Sure, they’ll try to reduce those (by not employing people for one thing), but the rest will still be paid by the taxpayers because someone couldn’t plan for inflation of construction costs.
