Anti-Arab purge in German Media is highly concerning

  1. >Ever since the German Parliament passed a resolution describing the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel as anti-Semitic, the country has seen growing campaigns to equate anti-Zionism with anti-Semitism and to delegitimize criticism of Israeli violations against Palestinians. This not only poses a serious risk to freedom of speech and expression, but it has also proven dangerous in terms of weaponizing accusations of anti-Semitism against public figures from minority backgrounds.

    >Earlier this month, the German public state-owned international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle, announced suspending some DW Arabic Service employees as well as freelancers abroad, pending an external investigation into allegations of anti-Semitism. The commission of inquiry will include former German Minister of Justice Sabine Leutheusser-Schnarrenberger and Palestinian psychiatrist Ahmad Mansour. Euro-Med Monitor identified five Arab journalists, including two Palestinians, amongst those suspended for postings critical of the state of Israel.

  2. This is what one of the top politicians in Germany, former president of European Parliament and chairman of SPD Martin Schulz said.

    > And fourth, Martin Schulz, the president of the European Parliament, is a close friend of mine. On most issues connected to the Isr aeli-Palest inian conflict we disagree. He is closer to the Isr ae li mainstream, and his positions resemble those of Lab or Party chairman Isa ac Her zog. He once told me, during a frank and stern conversation, “For me, the new Ger ma ny exists only in order to ensure the existence of the State of I sra el and the J ewi sh people.”

  3. What kind of propaganda site is this? Those „journalists“ got fired/weren’t hired because they had problematic opinions about Jews.

  4. >Shortly before this announcement, Nemi El-Hassan, a German journalist with Palestinian roots, had her scheduled science show “Quarks” cancelled by the German public-broadcasting institution, Westdeutscher Rundfunk, over similar allegations of expressing anti-Israel sentiments.

    The allegations are proven.

    >We are immensely concerned by the recent alarming increase in the targeting, singling out and smearing of Arab and Palestinian journalists in German media, Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor said in a statement today.

This article is about a statement they made themselves. In my book a questionable source.

  5. It is true you can be anti-Zionist without being an anti-Semite. However it is also true that many people use the reasonable stance of being against Zionism as a vehicle to push anti-Semitic propaganda on the public.
