This might sound wrong, but… it would be extremely interesting if there was a way to watch the landslide from a safe distance.

Do you know if maybe there is a hike around it?
“might”
**Livestream**
[Blick TV is live-streaming the area](https://www.blick.ch/schweiz/wann-kommt-der-bergsturz-verfolge-die-situation-in-brienz-im-livestream-id18571815.html) for everyone interested in watching in realtime.
**Scientific Monitoring**
The ongoing *Rutschung* of Brienz has been documented and monitored for decades, that’s what the evacuation is based on.
If you are interested in details, go have a look at [ETHZ’s Earth Sciences Department](https://erdw.ethz.ch/en/), they’ve been keeping track of this and many other ongoing geological shifts.
**You can support the people of Brienz: Evacuation & Relief Effort Updates**
If you would like to help the people of Brienz deal with the catastrophe, the municipality of Albula/Alvra, of which Brienz GR is part, is also giving live updates, and – more crucially – accepting monetary donations as well as volunteer support:

Well the thing is, we can’t exactly predict where the landslide will go, we can do an approximate of where it’ll go with probabilities but it’s not exactly precise. Reason for which there isn’t really a safe distance to watch a landslide (unless you’re on a helicopter while it happens)
