  1. >The companies are facing calls for higher taxes from opposition parties.

Funny how the party of low taxes has zero problems with taxing the wind power industry.

  2. I honestly want to know at what point this country takes to the streets? Like how far does it have to go until we see an *actual* rebellion/revolution? Wages falling, prices skyrocketing, and all that money is GUSHING upwards into the pockets of billionaires. How does any of this end if everyone just carries on and has nothing more than the occasional grunt about it?

  3. And naturally it doesn’t matter the country is struggling for funds, this government will never raise windfall taxes.

  4. Exxon Mobil made £9bn profit in the first quarter of the year.

They could give every MP £1m every month and still have over 2 billion profit every month.

    And that’s just one company.

  5. Good news for anyone with an occupational pension invested in BP and Shell which is almost everyone in the UK.

  6. Britons ‘need to accept’ they’re poorer, says Bank of England economist

Because, in this game of monopoly, those with the most make and keep the most.

Vote conservative, to conserve their wealth!

  7. nice little bonus for rishi and the ministers no doubt. ferret it away on some cayman island and continue to be a puppet for big corporations.

  8. The billionaires/media owners are playing am expert game, while we are either calling eachother racists or libtards they have pushed their agenda to the point where we are all blaming eachother for our problems as a country. Greed is our enemy and it needs to be taken down by forgetting our differences and aiming at big business, politicians, anyone who stands in the way of a financially fair society.

  9. I’m fucking sick of this shit!!!! Every single week I’m reading an article like this. Something needs to be done

  10. Not surprising. With the amount of money I paid monthly in gas and electricity to Shell, I’m sure I helped them get there.

  11. I’m here to see the “umm acktewally, they don’t make as much as you think” knobends to turn up and tell us all how a few mega corporations trying to earn all of the money is actually a good thing and how this is all displaced outrage

  12. Ah this is great news surely? Good to see people doing well, an inspiration for us all. Just kill the planet, the rest will work itself out. Right? /s

  13. That money is our taxes paid to them as a subsidy for our gas and electricity costs. Keep on voting to be poor…

  14. Every time I hear someone blame the president for gas prices I tell them to wait and see the RECORD PROFITS the petroleum companies are making.

  15. The reason they’re earning bumper profits is that they sell oil/gas at auction so the companies vying to buy oil/gas are bidding way up on what oil/gas used to cost wholesale because of the reduced supply from sanctions on Russia. All the while not paying any more for actual production of oil and gas. So their profits soar.

To counter that there’d need to be a government tax to counter those increase profits, but the difficulty is how to distrubute that tax across all the governments that are affected by the sale of oil/gas from those companies benefitting. If every country tried to take its pound of flesh without co-operation it could sink the companies altogether and make the world reliant on middle eastern production that the have less economic control over.

  16. These giant corporations amaze me. They brag they are making the biggest profits in history. Then say they can’t afford to increase workers pay or benefits. Can’t afford to be Taxed anymore. Then say they are baffled as to why they have negative image with the public.
