Hey Belgians! I would like your opinion on my little project, Country P! I hope this one isn’t as controversial as the other ones I posted lol. But if there are mistakes, which I’m sure, there are plenty, feel free to correct them. Thanks!

  1. Valiant effort. if you aren’t from the region and didn’t use a reference map: very well done.

I would let the Scheld river run through both Ghent and Antwerp. It’s kind of part of the Antwerp identity.

I would change Lier to either Tongeren or Hasselt, if look at the relative position. (Of you ment Liège, it is in the correct place, but the language barrier should be just above that city in that case.

And Charleroi is south west of Brussels, so it should be a bit more to the left.

  2. The German word for Belgium is “Belgien” with an -n, because yours looks like you wrote it with an -m. Unless you slipped a bit with your pencil of course 🙂 In general I really liked it though! As a Belgian I didn’t even know the meaning of the colours of our flag, so I learnt something new here, nice work!

  3. Your title has Belgi ium, one I is enough 🙂
As someone pointed out, n not m for the German version.

If you have some clear plastic, make overlay maps for our internal borders. One for the communities, one for the regions,…

  4. The Schelde passes by Antwerp after Ghent before touching sea. The Meuse passes by Liège and continues into the Netherlands by Maastricht, not Germany. The Sambre passes by Charleroi and joins the Meuse at Namur, the political capital of Wallonia.

  5. You have drawn Liége on Flemish side of the border while it’s is a Walloon city same goes for with Germany.
But for the rest it looks really nice!

  6. The demographic statistic is a bit misleading.

The 66,6 % is inhabitants with Belgian nationality AND Belgian origins

The 33,4 % consists of 20,6 % people with Belgian nationality and foreign origins and 12,8 % people without Belgian nationality.

So 87,2 % of the population is Belgian, while only 12,8 percent is not.

  7. Capitalize the ‘G’ in german, kmy apologies for the pedantry.

Put the Euro sign next to ‘Euro’

Since you mentioned Benelux maybe you could highlight the Netherlands and Luxembourg in a different colour each and highlight ‘ne’ and ‘lux’ in the corresponding colour and mention a fact about it: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benelux](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benelux)

  8. The highest point in Belgium is Botrange (you did place it on the map), at the impressive 694m. We put a small stair in stone on top, to reach the 700m.

  9. i think 60% Christians is waaaay off and the no religion % should be higher. Problem is that they count all baptised children as christian while i’m baptised (not my choice) and i don’t believe.

  10. Consider adding that it’s the home for most eu institutions like the commission and the parliament.

  11. A fun fact could be the odd border created by the train line that runs through Germany, but is Belgian. [link](https://www.amusingplanet.com/2020/05/vennbahn-railway-that-created-peculiar.html?m=1)

Or the several other odd borders with the Netherlands created by Breda and Brabant. [link](https://brilliantmaps.com/baarle-hertogbaarle-nassau/)

Edit: here is a [TikTok video](https://www.tiktok.com/@gatenerd/video/7231287658709028142?_r=1&_t=8cBRzgW2seY&social_sharing=v1) that goes more into the history of the border of Breda and Brabant than the original article I linked.
