The coast guard has suffered so many cuts, and these poor people have paid the ultimate price. Experienced staff have been let go, and now we have what is little more than a call centre.
This is what the government want. They won’t openly say that, of course (but some people will).
There is not one public service that the tories haven’t cut to the point it barely functions.
You just know this is exactly what the bigots want, they were hoping the boat would sink.

These dingies the smugglers use, when they reach England we confiscate them. Then we send them to auction. Then the smugglers buy them back and use them again and the government knows exactly who is buying them and they don’t care because it’s money.
