  1. The fucker want us out and about to expose us to their new “virus”, Who do they think they are tell us what to do.

  2. Im not the only one who really enjoyed that part of their life when it was illegal for people to come near me. Ah … the lockdown.

  3. When you think back, the whole thing was fucking mental. I can remember vividly before it all kicked off and the sense of ‘eh do we need to worry here’ and then blam – massive lockdown of the entire country.

As difficult as it all was, Ireland really came out of it looking like the grown up’s in the room.

  4. So in the same week I get sick with Covid for the 1st time, you’re telling me it’s over and nothing to worry about? You sound like me wife!!

  5. I remember being a few months in to the demic thinking about when I’m gonna read this exact article. That was 3 years ago

  6. Which does not mean that there is no COVID and that you cannot die because if it.

It means there are no longer 1000 death per day, or saturated emergencies.

  7. Tell that to my fully vaccinated friend who was SO sick a couple weeks ago on her 3rd bout. The worst she ever felt. Also, watch now while employers immediately summon us all back in 5 days a week.

  8. Great! Let me just go to the comments section on my local radio station’s socials.

    Edit: MY EYES! MY EYES!

  9. What will all the anti-vaxers do now? Maybe if there was a war to start they could target the people fleeing said war…..oh wait

  10. Tbf it hasn’t really been a big deal for months. Perhaps even the past year. When I read this, I was like “I haven’t heard that name in years”.

  11. This is the end of a legal provision; the WHO are not saying Covid is no longer a concern.

While significant progress has been made on the death rate of Covid, Long Covid can be caused by even a mild or asymptomatic case – and is a risk that accumulates with each infection. For example, [3.1% of the UK population](https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/bulletins/prevalenceofongoingsymptomsfollowingcoronaviruscovid19infectionintheuk/2february2023) are suffering with Long Covid after only two years of pretending things are back to normal. Of that group 78% are not able to work full time, and [19% are too sick to work at all](https://www.reuters.com/world/uk/three-quarters-uk-long-covid-sufferers-working-less-survey-2022-11-09/).

Not to be a downer, but if this is the result of two years of willful ignorance of the problem, how bad will things be in five, 10, or 20+ years time if we don’t address the elephant in the room? Are we economically and socially prepared for potentially massive rates of debilitation in our population down the line if everyone is repeatedly infected?
