Ukrainian Naftogaz appeals to EC to enforce Russian Gazprom to increase spot gas volumes for sale via the Ukraine

  1. How do you feel being hammered between entitlement of EU, the Kievan chutzpah and Kremlin’s `eff you` (coop-ed by White House behind the scenes), my fellow high europeans?

ps: it’s lovely how they’re calling themselves a ‘free transit capacity’ in the press release 😀

  2. I’m not sure what basis they have for this.

Gazprom is delivering as per their contractual obligations. I don’t see that they have any obligation to provide more gas for sale in spot markets, or to fill the storage capacities they themselves own.

As for this being anti competitive, isn’t it exactly the opposite? By not fulling the customer’s needs, Gazprom is actually making way for competition to do so, as we can see by the increased LNG sales.

  3. The trillion dollar question is if European Union finally wakes up and sells to minimize the use of fossil fuels in the energy mix?

More nuclear, more geothermal, more heat pumps, more renewables and more building insulation can have a big impact.
