Ministers set to impose NHS pay deal on staff despite opposition of unions

  1. Genuine Question

How can they force a deal on staff with both side not consenting as it’s a work contract?

Also what’s to stop the NHS from just striking after the new deal is imposed for an even better one?

  2. That’s just the way it works, the ministers aren’t imposing it on anyone. There will be a vote on Tuesday by the unions where a majority will vote in favor of the deal, hence everyone will get the deal.

  3. That headline is a creative way of looking at it.

More “staff council of union reps set to accept pay deal accepted by a majority of their members”.

There’s nothing stopping RCN members from continuing to strike for a better deal. There’s no imposition here.

  4. For a Gov’t that supposedly believes in free markets, they sure are incompetent hypocrits. Hospitals can’t afford to keep losing staff.

  5. Can’t impose a pay deal on staff that aren’t there. If that goes through, loads of nurses are just going to walk and find other jobs. There’s always a supermarket or a fast food place to work in.

  6. So they’re just giving everybody a pay rise?

What’s the problem here, presumably you can continue to strike if you don’t think the pay is enough, but you immediately start being paid more?
