  1. „in many of the 26 countries surveyed where younger people are less likely than older adults to identify as Christian, especially Catholic, and more likely to identify as Muslim or of some other faith.“

So its more about migration. At least in western Europe. Here in Germany I would say migrant kids are way more conservative & religious than their non-migrant age groups. I always jokingly say, if the AfD or CDU want future success, they have to appeal to citizen with migrant roots. If I‘m not wrong there was a poll about how Berlin muslims (with german citizenship, mostly turkish roots probably) voted at the last Berlin election and CDU was at number one.

  2. So Germany has less catholics, less other christians, plus 6% muslims but then +28% more religious people that go to a place of worship? Ohhhhkay, sure. That data does not work out at all.

  3. Reddit’s hatred towards religion is quite laughable. There are many progressive Muslims/Christians. People should be able to believe whatever they want to believe, not everyone has to be atheist.

  4. Poland -9%. Great job conservatives. Ohhh and also don’t you forget biggest shrinking population of priests. If the trend continues Poland will have to import priests from Africa cause NO ONE goes to seminary anymore. From literal thousands every year to closing seminaries

  5. Mm, -24% young Poles identifying as Catholics. Good job, Polish bishops and fundamentalist twats.

  6. Why is agnosticism lumped with atheism?

An agnostic person can be *either religious OR non-religous*. Agnosticism doesn’t automatically by default mean “agnostic atheist”.

  7. It’s crazy to see how Europeans are getting away from religion but Arab and Muslim countries live the exact opposite process.

  8. Post title is somewhat misleading. The poll data does not discuss impact emigration vs evolution of the beliefs of the domestic population. If for example increasing Muslim beliefs is due mostly to emigration of Muslim peoples coupled with lower birth rates of advanced western economies, than the data says more about diffusion of peoples across the globe vs evolving religious beliefs as generations change
