It’s because the UK is cheaper than it used to be for US visitors. Add in same language etc. and a train away from Paris then it’s ideal.
London is full of Americans these days and it’s great. They’re usually lovely and spend shit loads of money.

Before 2005, we had amazing purchasing power in the USA and could establish a prosperous life there easily, but it’s seemingly been reversed – less pay, weaker GDP.
