  1. I don’t get it. Why would Putain poison his nr.1 fan? Especially now that even the DPRK is moking him? If I had a loyal pet like that I would guard him like NATO troops in my area.

  2. Belarusians deserve so much better. Such a brave and kind nation, I hope they get the democracy they deserve.

  3. While one could argue that wishing for this guys death is justifiable I don’t think it’s good for Ukraine.

Better the devil you know, it’s unlikely someone soft will be able to fill the power vacuum and depending on how pro russia the replacement is, ukraine could find themselves in much worse situation fighting on two fronts.

  4. I know the inclination is to probably cheer that Lukashenko is sick, but I’m the opposite. He’s a dictator without a clear successor (like say, North Korea’s system), meaning that should he die, it has the potential of becoming a much, much worse situation in the country.

In a country where might makes right and the most brutal people rule, times of uncertainty often breed nothing but disaster for everyone.

  5. Don’t you find it just a little bit suspicious when Russia’s chairman of the parliament says Luka is sick while his own office claims he’s busy with paperwork?

  6. Luka dies

Next man on power will allow an Russian invasion via north of Ukraine, straight to Kiev.

  7. Putin couldn’t find a window in Belarus without a safety catch and had to resort to the time honoured poisoning method. Not as quick as pushing someone out a window, but maybe allows for plausible deniability as no one knows when he had a dodgy vodka.

  8. We could just wait for more info instead of speculating in a time of heavy propaganda.

Even the ‘opposition leader’ (who I think lives in Lithuania now) is basically acting like Guaido now trying to get western support.

I’ve read too many headlines of Kim Jong Un dying every 6 months only for him to re-appear. Lukashenko is probably ill but the media goes nuts over these events and the whole geopolitical speculation begins.

  9. “Lukashenko’s office has declined to comment, saying the dictator is “doing paperwork.”

It’s funny if the his office names Lukashenko as dictator
