German gas storage levels are increasing faster than anticipated, and are curently at 70%. The goal for 1 September 2023 is 75% storage level. At current refill speed(2% per week) it could be achieved as early as next month

Yeah, heating is mostly turned off for now so private demand is quite low and is going to stay low for a few months.
As industrial demand is going to pick up due to lower prices the fill rate is going to drop though.
This will put even more downward pressure on the gas prices.
The whole of the EU is currently at 62,5 % and rising (agsi.gie.eu/data-visualisation/EU).
So all those tweets about “europe will be frozen to death” by RuZZians and their vatnikZ living amongst us but won’t go back to ruskie, rusty, dusty, smokey mir are nothing more than horseshit?
Can we get 110% filled or is 100% the absolute maximum?
Don’t know if it’s a dumb question, but did they do any efforts to increase the storage capacity? I’ve only heard about more import terminals etc. but wouldn’t higher capacities mean that you can buy more throughout the year instead of relying on only constant shipments? In this pace we would reach 100% in summer and then just sit on it until it gets dangerous again?
Great news. I wonder if someone has done the maths on the long term impact of heat pump growth on EU natural gas demand.
Mostly because Germany is still buying Russian LNG.
>The goal for *1 September* 2023
Hmmm…. That date though….
How exactly did we achieve this? The graphics and statistic on ZEIT Online (they’re really well made, you should definitely check them out!) show that we barely get any gas from the newly built LNG terminals.

Great, but Germany’s gas storage is relatively small compared to their consumption.
