Its a new sub-strain of omicron. It may have a little immune escape, so if you’ve had another omicron infection recently, this could still cause a degree of infection, but that’s still not really certain, every chance your omicron immunity will hold up against this.
However the overall threat level is not considered any more severe than other omicron strains. Even in hard-hit India bed occupancy rate has seen minimal change overall, and negligible compared to the delta wave of 2021.
Usual hype over routine monitoring of strain prevalence. Wouldn’t take too much notice.
Prior to going into full doom mode. It’s nothing new. It is not even a close relative of worry.
The “severity” and “clinical considerations for the variant” are rated as “low” by the WHO.

No, I don’t think I will be listening to the experts. I’ve worn masks before but we have moved on from them. I’ve caught COVID with or without masks and so have most people.
