Found a ton of old pictures from my mums trip to Ireland 20 years back, but of course she didn’t label any of the photos after she got them developed. I’m headed over in a few months and I’d love to visit some of these spots (if I can find out where they are)

  1. I think it’s the reconstructed village that’s by Bunratty castle, seems very familiar. I remember the souterrain and the Fulacht fiadh.

  2. Picture 3 is an example of a round tower. From the replies above seems like it might be a replica. But you should definitely visit an original, the one I recommend is at Glendalough – there is a round tower over 1000 years old, in an ancient monastic settlement with the monks tiny stone cabins, a ruined church, an intact stone chapel and a graveyard – in a beautiful location of hills and lakes. There are also many real passage graves in Ireland (some of the oldest structures in the world, maybe 4000 years old. The most famous one is Newgrange – you can and should visit, but it’s very “sanitized” now as a tourist attraction. There are others around the country that are just natural in the middle of a field or up a mountain where you’ll be the only person, there, and can go into the passage grave- not as famous.
