I have been trying to figure out what you call “Flank Steak” in Polish, so I can tell my mom about it and ask her questions about the dish I’m cooking.
I used google translate and told her I’m buying “Stek z flanki”, and she looked at me like I’m an alien and said: “Nie wiem co to jest”
What flank steak is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flank_steak
What is this called in Polish? Are there different names depending on the region? Is there maybe an older name that might have been used in the 1970-1980s but not today? Thanks for any insights!

Flank is ‘łata’ in Polish
The cut is sold as “łata” or “bavette” (from French).
Pro tip, you can change the languge on Wikipedia.
the thing is in Poland you can’t by this ‘łata’ thing in your typical butcher’s
