  1. > Safety fears are rising in Manchester’s gay village after a shop’s windows were smashed with a crowbar for the third time in six weeks in what the owner has called a “premeditated, targeted hate crime”.

    >Businesses and LGBTQ+ people on Canal Street and the surrounding neighbourhood have spoken about experiencing an increase in abuse and crime, and have appealed for more police help.

    > Greater Manchester police (GMP) are trying to identify two masked people on motorbikes responsible for vandalising CloneZone, an adult shop on Sackville Street, on Monday.

    >This most recent vandalism happened during the day, moments after a community meeting following two similar attacks on the same shop, which sells leather and sex toys. CCTV footage of the attack shows a police car parked outside that had been intended to act as a deterrent but it was empty because the officers were attending another crime.

    > “Unfortunately, we are seeing politics nationally that has become more divisive,” she said. “We’ve seen post-Brexit a rise in the number of racist incidents that have been reported. And we’ve seen, particularly with some of the discourse in the media around trans issues, hate towards the LGBTQ community rise as well across the country.”

    >Official figures show homophobic hate crimes increased by 41% in the year to March 2022 and transphobic hate crimes by 56% – the largest proportional rise of all categories, which also included race, disability and religion. The Home Office said at the time it was not clear whether it was due to an increase in crime or better recording processes.

  2. It’s almost like when we told you all the propaganda against trans people and the lgbt community would have consequences. It has had far reaching consequences and will continue to do so. This is just the latest in a long line of events.

  3. This makes me kinda sad and angry – there’s been god knows how many staff and punters beat up either in or leaving the village over the last 1-2 years and they’re now considering it a serious issue because it’s recurring *vandalism*

  4. Trans people have been laughed at for suggesting that the attacks on us will spread to gay and bi people. We were told that we weren’t a part of the community and LGB would be safe without the T.

Well that was a load of shit, wasn’t it?

  5. What was that about us being one of the most socially Liberal countries? What have queer and trans people been saying about the media propaganda against us and what it would inevitably lead to? Are we being alarmist now?

  6. “If we just attack the transluminatti they will leave us alone; it’ll be fine its all the trans people fault if it spills over” screams the LGB Alliance and various other transphobic Lesbian and Gay groups.

Im not including Bi here as most if not all of the above groups are also incredibly Biphobic too.

Turns out genocidal bigots dont care one bit who would have thought.

  7. I wondered why CloneZone had boarded up windows and police everywhere yesterday. It’s just enough around the corner you can make an easy escape after being a cunt.

Shame; Canal District is possibly one of the friendliest and most welcoming places I’ve been and the people there do not deserve this grief.

  8. Unfortunately hateful people will always be around and in huge numbers too.

At present moment Trans are an easy target, Gay men have always kinda been just under the radar, was only a matter of time before going after trans was not enough of a thrill for the haters, so now the gays getting it toos.

Eventually it will end up the whole LGBTQ+ community, they know the LGT have never been fully united so it’s not hard to exploit it and pick off parts of it at a time.
