Good news warning.
So the unit cost of electricity went down right? Right?
And as we now know, all that means fuck all to anybody.
And the price dropped fucking nothing. Why do we have these wind farms if they aren’t benefiting us in the slightest. Even the green effect for the environment is completely cancelled out with the rest of the world not doing much.

According to a post I read earlier, only 3 other countries in the EU have a dirtier grid than Ireland, based on their energy mix.
So this sounds good, but lots more needs to be done and fast.
Yeah but they’re ugly and they actually sick up the wind meaning there’s less to go around /s
Last I heard a lot of generated energy are wasted because storage was lacking. If storage are invested in parallel to generation, electricity prices can go down and help fight the cost of living crisis.
And yet I’m paying €0.49c a unit
Then why are energy prices so high in Ireland?
If recent inflation has taught us anything it’s that ***we need to be more self sufficient in our energy*** (we are too susceptible to ebbs and flows of global trade/global political landscape as a small open economy), which ***may*** have knock on effect to most if not all our issues, e.g. cost of living, housing, and even healthcare.
Note: the word ***may*** is used to adjust for instances of greed/ price gouging/ poor government policies e.t.c.
I really do believe that some of the record corporate tax receipts should be invested in our energy production infrastructure, maybe through our state fund (ISIF)???. Then again, its a good thing a lot of it is be sent to the National Reserve Fund, it might be counterintuitive to spend that money when prices are sky-high and interest rates are gradually being increased by the ECB. Focus on the long term like Iroquois Seventh Generation principle
Sweden very impressive with loads of diversification, almost no fossil fuels and a strong steady base layer of nuclear.
They should be in every estate. Ridiculous that people oppose them.
