  1. Good. It’s horrible that this man lost his job but the police should be held to account if they’re going to enforce laws on the rest of us. I do hope this can encourage more police officers to support the efforts to legalise less harmful drugs like cannabis.

  2. If you work In a job where Your role is in any way “anti drugs” you should have to drug test regularly. You cant be trying to figure out how to take my passport away for smoking a joint whilst your doing the exact same thing.

  3. Hypocrisy aside, a well respected policeman was using a substance which had no negative effect on his ability to do his job and the serious consequences he faced are entirely to do with the legal status of the substance.

    Time to legalise.

If every Dr, nurse, politician, lawyer, cop or business person who had had a toke got fired, the nation would grind to a standstill.

  4. Gotta be hard to be a cop if you don’t agree with laws, especially if it’s one that goes against how you would otherwise live your life. You have to suppress part of yourself or try to hide it, under high levels of scrutiny (compared to most jobs). Bit like wider society I guess – have to jump through bullshit hoops (eg applications, interviews, sucking up to people in your industry, looking like a good worker rather than being one) , even if you’re already good enough.
