Would this pass the technical control ?

  1. My car mirror broke this weekend and I was planning on going to the tech control today. Would this pass or should I reschedule?

  2. Your mirrors do get checked, so it’s best to fix this preventively anyway. Not 100% sure if you would get a red card for it, but I would fix it preventively anyway.

  3. No. It will not pass if broken. Some years ago it was ok, but you will get a red card now.
You can just replace the mirror glass, it is clicked in.

  4. I had a broken windshield for 3 years and always got a green card somehow. But then i did get a red card for the roetfiltertest.

  5. ik denk dat ze dat gewoon gaan noteren als opmerking. wat weinig betekend, maar zichtbaar is voor de controle van volgend jaar.

  6. Depends of the guy. I had the same but the lower mirror broken and they failed me. In the end I went to a mirror cutter asked them to cut the shape and glued it on. It was useless but it passed. Would not recommend it since it’s the big mirror that you actually need

  7. You can find the technical requirements in attachment 12 or 15 in ‘het koninklijk besluit technische eisen’. It should explain in detail what the minimum requirements are to get a green card and on what basis they will give you a red card. But from my pov, I’d just get it fixed at your nearest garage, safest and most time-saving option.

  8. If the mechanic is in a good mood, he’ll let it go. He’ll maybe tell you to change it but that’s it.

You can also play the card of the sick children that you drive to the hospital with it and that you can’t miss it.

  9. I was the last in line on a Friday afternoon and after waiting 2 hours de keuring zelf took about 3 mins, including keuring staff banter. Maybe that helps.

  10. I’d have it repaired as soon as you can – or even better: order the spare parts now and do it yourself. Not for technical control, but for other people’s safety. Also, if you don’t replace it, you risk having problems with your car insurance coverage if you happen to cause an accident yourself. Insurance companies are a b*tch to deal with these days, they’ll do everything to shift the blame on you.
