The plan is, there is no plan.
People have to live somewhere, winding up with people on the streets is a dereliction of duty.
Something’s got to give.
The right. Let’s make money. The left, what, nobody is illegal or borders are racist. Absolute cluster fuck.
What about capping asylum numbers instead?

Read between the lines – He’s trying to make it seem like all the refugees are Ukrainian, so he doesn’t have to confront the issue that many refugees are NOT Ukrainian and NOT fleeing a war and not actually legitimate asylum seekers but economic migrants who CHOOSE to falsely claim asylum.
No Ukrainians were ripping up their identity documents on the flight on the way over here. Why? Because they are ACTUAL asylum seekers.
So typical Leo – No plan, no complex discussion – Just “Anyone who disagrees with me is a racist”.
What annoys me is every time I hear a government spokesperson on radio they talk about unprecedented immigration numbers and always mention Ukraine situation insinuating that this is a once off situation.
The facts are; for the year up to April 22 the immigration numbers were 120K only 28K were Ukrainians.
Question; where is the jointed up thinking in government policy ?
Massive housing crisis. People sleeping on couches and in the streets, hardly any houses being built.
It’s basic maths. We are running out of space and people are making it about race etc. Literal morons.
I feel like some of the issues going on, are so dumb and basic, and it’s not getting sorted. Just sitting watching a car crash and if anyone objects, then they are a racist…. Fuuuuuck meeeee
Yeah we shouldn’t shift the burden of housing Ukranians onto countries that are already taking more per capita than we are (although it should be noted that most of the other countries that are taking more are much more geographically close to Ukraine than Ireland) but lets not pretend that all of Western Europe is taking as many per capita as Ireland already has.
There has been no effort taken by Ireland at a European level to insist on solidarity, harmonisation of benefits etc. Ireland literally has nowhere else to house Ukranians but France certainly does.
If he wants to deal with the numbers of refugees (not including Ukranians) then strictly enforce the Dublin regulation, get rid of leave to remain and actually deport failed asylum seekers

The Irish government is currently changing Ireland massively and forever by allowing everyone and anyone who can keep a straight face while lying into the country (particularly lone males from middle east/Africa). It’s quite obvious that this is now causing massive changes to Irish society. But it keeps wages low, rents high and the housing crisis rolling on, so good for the wealthy and powerful, so they’re happy at least. There is no reversing this and it has been disastrous in every other European country it has occurred in, particularly for women. No discussion, debate or consultation with the people
I use to let homeless people stay in my home. Every single one of them fucked me over. Sure not every homeless person is bad and these evil ones give the genuine ones a bad name. I was better off not letting them near me. Need to find better ways to support them. From Irish to multi nationals i took inn. Why is this different nationally?. Its not really. Ireland has too much heart. as I did. just for it to be abused. I still have the heart. I just dont accept homeless people living with me anymore. you can be too kind and too evil. I always find myself inbetween time and time again. i advice you all to be the same. you cant save them all. save ourselves before we save the world

I think the vast majority of people have no problem with it, however my issue and other people’s issue with it is, Ireland’s infrastructure could barely cope before more people are added into the system, and don’t forget our own population will increase, I would say in 7/10 years this will surfaces as an absolute WTF where you thinking at the time moment for gov.

If a refugee is not part of that EU plan to help distribute refugee among all EU states so they are sent here specifically as part of that plan I don’t understand why the first question they are asked is how did you get to ireland? And if they passed other safe countries why didn’t they stop there. Surely your no longer a refugee when you leave a safe country and move to another safe country.
Also we had a housing crisis before a refugee crisis. Housing crisis was created by our government. Refugee crisis was created by other governments

Whatever side of this issue you fall on, the ostrich approach that the government is taking is making all of this far worse than it already is. They don’t seem to be acknowledging any concerns, or even attempting to engage with the issue in any way except to dismiss it and deflect from it.
It’s very clear that the government has no plan for how to deal with, manage or fix this situation. So what they’re going to do is do nothing and hope for the best.
It can’t go on like this. People are getting fed up with inaction on every single thing that is going wrong in Ireland.
