Luxembourg has the earliest effective retirement age in the EU with some of the best social security and workers rights.
While I understand that shift work can be difficult, decreasing the retirement age seems to put that pressure on the rest of the population to fund that.
I don’t think that a shift or night worker needs to retire earlier than a regular worker doing manual labor especially because it is very unusual for senior employees to receive unfavorable / irregular shifts.
Work during the night is paid with a supplement, so the pension will be higher. I bet this will be rejected.
In the last couple of years, I had couple of colleagues (3) working shift qualifying for pre-retirement at 57 years old.
Existing conditions for shift workers are 480 months (school + career) and 15 years of shift in the last 20 (before pre retraite) or 20 years of shift in all career.
So.. Might be wrong, but aren’t the shift workers from the public sector already allowed to retire 2 years earlier?
Apologies but as a young guy I have no intention to support anything that will cause earlier retirement of people just to have to retire at 80 to compensate it later on
That’s a good petition ! Since shift workers are statistically more likely to suffer from any type of disease they should retire earlier.
