I wonder how the power gets to the house when you want it and it get back up and running after it’s knocked out.
We must have the highest standing charge in the EU, price caps on kWh gets mentioned but a reduction on the daily fee for having electricity is just as important.
Are you considering a life off the grid then or?
Would you prefer they didn’t tell you and just lumped it in with the price if the electricity?
Edit: you’re also paying way too much for your electricty.
Nothing to stop you going off-grid if you prefer.
I tried to look for it there but I can’t seem to find it, there is a standard price for the standing charge according to your meter, so if your DG1 which is a 24h meter as far as I can remember, you have a set standing charge price. If you can find it, check it against the cost they are charging you!
A lot of the big companies hide costs in these figures for overheads and profits, if you have signed up to a contract you will have to wait but if not, you can call them and ask them to reduce it? No harm in asking! Hopefully something will change soon with these bills, they are crazy prices it’s awful! I know it might seem like a small bill to some but that bill was probably about 60€ a year or so ago! 🫠
Whats worse, has anyone noticed that in some apartments when they have a separate meter for the storage heaters the night rate only applies to the storage heater itself. I’ve never understood why anyone would believe the night rate is cheaper. also night rate comes with higher standing charge
Anybody needs me I will be up the sugarloaf, spearfishing.

Thanks Hun.
That’s quite cheap
As opposed to being off grid
