I wonder which Russian sector drove the most economic contraction… was it the “Pushing-dissidents-out-of-windows” industry? Or maybe the Poisonings sector?
Assuming rosstat can be trusted, which is questionable.
It’s their numbers so probably more, hopefully more. Whatever it is – it’s not enough
not bad, the netherlands shrank 0.70% and we dont even have war
Important thing people miss;
The Russian economy isn’t getting “1.9% bad”. Russia was growing at an average of 5% and was expected to grow by 10% before the war.
So the economy shrank by 2% but in reality the damage is closer to 12%.
Ukraine shrank by 30% last year, and some articles says 32 or even 45
That … seems low?
Not enough. Sanction harder.
Reminder: Building weapons tanks and artillery shells contributes to GDP. Even with economic mobilization to boost the numbers, it still dropped. Also not all GDP is created equal. Tanks that get destroyed in a few months are not valuable to the average person compared to other things like consumer goods and services
How can I contribute to the Russian economy’s shrinkage?
