After 6 months of work. My first attempt at a Irish translation rom patch of Pokémon is done. Just doing some clean up. Need to fully playtest this to make sure it all flows ok. In case I missed anything. Once all in the clear. I’ll upload the patch for anybody to use.

  1. I started doing this before but I gave up, I don’t know Irish was just using google translate. In the end I just made the game call one of my friends a cunt and left it at that.

  2. Once it all looks good. I post here again once the patch is available. As well as to get feedback to let me know if you guys found any grammar errors or if something doesn’t make sense in the game. I know for a fact i gotten some sentences wrong and its going over my head.

  3. Is dócha gur fearr ‘earraí’ le haghaidh ‘items’ a chur in iúl anseo.
Is í an chiall atá le ‘mír’ ná píosa eolais ar liosta, nó píosa cainte ar chlár oibre, is fearr earra nó earraí a úsáid chun cúr síos ar rudaí ábhartha a dhéanamh, IMT.
Sár-jab déanta agat ar aon nós, go mbainfeá sult as!

I’d say ‘earraí’ would be better to express ‘items’ here.
What ‘mír’ means is a piece of information on a list, or a topic of conversation on an agenda, it’s better to use ‘earra’ or ‘earraí’ to describe physical things, imo.
Amazing job anyway, hope you enjoy!

  4. This is a lot of work on your end and very impressive. Will definitely check out the patch and share it when it’s up. Even before seeing it, well done to you!

  5. That’s class! In college I set out to make a ROM hack called Provoman set in Free Derry but never got further than the second town

  6. Drop me a note when you release it, I’ll flash it to my bootleg red/blue copies and test it out for you 😁 agus is gaeilgeoir mé freisin. Maith thú, i ndáiríre.

  7. Can’t wait to get my hands on this patch, I have great joy just looking at the list of translated names. Hope to get to play it soon!
