I found this metal detecting on a WW2 battlefield in Czechia. Says Helsinki and then some text. Anybody knows what this is and if it’s even finnish? Made out of Aluminium.

  1. I guess it’s some kind of mess tin or lunch box from WW2 but I can’t find anything on it. Google translate just gives me some nonsense.

  2. Thank god it was just a lunchbox lid, I’ve seen too many posts of people finding and holding mines, mortars, grenades and what not in their hand asking what it was or of it was safe.

  3. Like u/Rich_Handsome suggested, it could be that a German soldier stationed in Finland acquired it and brought it with him when he got re-deployed.

The other option I could think about is that Finland sold these abroad before the war. Not sure if IN/28 indicates that it was manufactured in 1928 though.
