Canada asks Britain for a constitutional monarchy and they are like “yeah ok whatever”, meanwhile France threw its population into the meat grinder doing wars of conquest before they got sick of losing and chose to transition to a more sane representative republic.
I wonder what the French population would be today if the Napoleonic Wars, Crimean War, and Franco-Prussian War never happened.
Someone should call Macron on this infamous day and inform him that he is no Napoleon, and that France is no longer an empire, so he in fact not an emperor.

I respect Napoleon for his Civil Code, a truly progressive thing for his time. As to his wars…so many Frenchmen died in them, and for what?
And after that we all lived happily ever after, the end.
If Napoleon is so praised now, I wonder how much it will take for people to start praising Hitler. I give it a decade or two.
