This is how Turks in Ireland voted in the Turkish Presidential Elections.

  1. I’d be embarrassed if I was a Turk citizen living abroad, and fellow Turks in the community were voting for someone who cares nothing for the Turkish people and has caused so much economic turmoil for them as well.

  2. I work in a Turkish company with mostly Turkish colleagues and they are embarrassed by the state of their government. They desperately want a change.

  3. I’d say most turks in Ireland are new generation tech workers.

In Germany it’s the third generation descended from uneducated laborers and they’re pretty heavy erdogan.

  4. Any turk I’ve encountered in Ireland has been immensely sound. I hope they make the right call for their country and that they can have a bright future to look forward to.

  5. Turks in Ireland are usually well-educated tech guys, this was expected but still welcome.

If things go too bad in Turkey too fast I might join this bunch as well 🙁

  6. Erdogan decided to reduce interest rates while turkey was having 60% inflation

Anyone voting for this guy is making a mistake if they have the best interests of turkey in their heart

  7. Kind of a relief to see that in a lot of places other than Turkey the majority polls so far seem to be *against* Erdogan and his anti-LGBT agenda and indirect support for ancient laws that would end up allowing queer folk to be prosecuted to death for… just existing.

You have to be a very particular piece of shit to vote *for* shite like that. It’s one of the few things in the world that makes my blood boil with a lack of understanding.

Queer people never collectively did anything bad. We’ve always kind of just… existed lol. I will never understand the inhumane hostility we get.

  8. If Turkey cannot get rid of Erdogan, it might be game over for the country. When more and more illegal migrants and refugees acquire citizenship, they will inevitably vote for him. I just wish the UN grew a pair and paved the way for these people to be sent back to other 3rd world countries. Turkey is literally holding the gates for the EU right now.

  9. Don’t know much about this can someone ELI5 what’s Erdoğans deal and why there’s such a big difference between people outside of Turkey voting for him and people inside of Turkey?

  10. Nice to see Turks overseas can have their vote counted even in a place like turkey … unlike Ireland…

  11. Quite surprised by Hungary, they literally live in the mini-Erdogan/Putin state, no difference at all.

  12. The younger generation who want to live in a liberal society move to Ireland. Other countries have people who left Turkey a long time ago, just for work

  13. I can’t throw stones at Turks for not wanting change when we have had a single party in power since the beginning of the state.

  14. So we got all the good Turks? That is certainly vastly at odds with Turkish foreign votes in other EU states.

    Well done the Irish Turks.

  15. It’s not so long ago that the vast majority of the Turkish diaspora voted to change the Turkish constitution to give Erdogan extended powers. 😡

  16. At least your Turks have some brain. Turks in Germany voted Erdogan by around 75%. This voting system is so fucked with millions of people not affected by the politics being able to vote for an autocrat living their comfy life in a democracy.
