Seems a bit of a stupid map. Why colour a whole country with the data for a capital? This is particularly misleading for countries which span a range of latitude (e.g. Norway, Sweden…)
I suppose time zones play a big role for this, or else Stockholm would be later than Oslo and Iceland would be before Oslo.
I am so seasonally depressed 😜
Belarus just casually getting an hour extra sun compared to all of its neighbours, nothing to see here.
Worth noting that winter solstice isn’t the earliest sunset, just the shortest day. The earliest sunset in most European cities was in early December. The latest sunrise, meanwhile, will be in early January.
Belarus looks like an oddity but then I remembered it was on Moscow time
Basically the same shit for everyone as long as you are at work till 18:00.
I do like longer nights as long as it’s not freezing cold though.
Sweden, Norway and Finland ahead of Iceland?
Although the winter solstice itself lasts only a moment, the term sometimes refers to the day on which it occurs.

Dammit, capital moved to Famagusta and I didn’t even notice.
The UK sunset is 15.53 in this map based on London but in Shetland the sunset is 14.57
Wait. What’s up with iceland? Why does the sun set there around the same time as in Poland?
Daylight hour map of winter solstice would give a much more accurate idea of the light situation. I’m sure people have posted it lots of times before. The time zones kinda fuck up the time of sunset.
Edit: sure
This is not a very good map, för example in southern Finland the info is pretty accurate, but in northern Finland the sun doesn’t rise at all. Can’t really put an entire country under one time.
How on Earth is the sun setting later in Helsinki than in Stockholm? Did you use different time zones for different countries?
Is this in local time?
Guess almere is our capital now
Bjelarus is weird
Thanks for separating Rome from Vatican City 😁
It is sometimes hard for me when the sun set at that hour in winter meanwhile in summer it sets about 9 if I am not wrong, an answer for my northern fellas, How do you feel when the sun sets around 14-15h? It is the hour when I lunch! I probably feel a little bit sad with that being spaniard tbh.
Sweden speedrunning depression
Eh Cyprus’ capital location is wrong
I don’t get this map. If Amsterdam and Berlin are at the same latitude, then why are the times so different?
Moscow’s location is a bit off I think. It’s pretty much where Tver is.
What about Moldova?
Missed Edinburgh so for everyone’s benefit it’s 15:40.
Northern Finland and sun doesn’t even rise.
Belarus moved itself into Western Europe /s
I that is why I won’t move to a Nordic country!
Hi,
what is this sunset you speak of?
Kind regards,
Northern Finland
I would be curious to see this map with the same timeline used in all countries.
is this all according to the same timezone, or the timezone of each country?
Huh, what makes Stockholm shorter than Iceland? Daylight savings? Time zone weirdness?
UK: Sun setting on the Bri’ish Empire? Never!
In Ireland the sun never sets simply cause it’s cloudy all the time 😔
Can confirm, woke up at 15 and it was pitch black
14:48?
Just keep the legal time, at least you will enjoy more of the afternoon
One of us is not like the others (European)
Minsk literally biult different
This needs to be represented in 3D perspective.
I thought we had it bad …
Iceland doesn’t look right – it’s dark all day there today
What’s up with Belarus lol
I haven’t seen that yellow bright bitch in so long. I miss her ;(

Moscowits empire isn’t European country. Lets it filled in red colours
Why Prag 1 minute earlier than Budapest?
It’s the price we pay for LONG summer days
This is wrong. In Finland it sets at 14:31. One hint shouldve been that Finlands capital is more north than Swedens. How would it even be logical that sun set earlier in Stockholm than in Oslo or Helsinki? Is Stockholm underground or something?
Solstice in Finland was yesterday, and the sunsets today is 14:31, so i would really wanna hear a big brain explination how sun wouldve set yeasterday like an hour later?
