Gay Santa ad highlights big shift in Norwegian society

  1. Meanwhile in Poland’s right-wing Twitter sphere, a cartoon circulated on St. Nicholas Day in which Santa is being arrested and pinned to a police car while the “real Sw. Mikołaj” stands to the side. The caption reads “Remember that the real St. Nicholas was a bishop, not a clown.”

    Fucking religious fundamentalists ruin everything.

  2. Oh look, it’s another case of a popular character being given diversity trait in new media just for virtue signaling almost nobody cares about. Neat!

  3. How do you even put sexuality in an add for that character? He have just one job, to deliver fucking presents to boys and girls! What? He went for a quicky along the way? Sexuality nor gender is important for its job. It wasn’t from the beginning. I swear, they’re gonna gay up Coca cola bottle next.

  4. I find gay Santa problematic due to his double role as a cultural Christmas figure and a Christian Saint.

While I don’t think it should be forbidden, I feel we should be more considerate of his second role. That extends to his commercial use in general. Make him Father Christmas instead and I am fine.

  5. Such a progressive move!

Now, I am waiting for ad, around Ramadan probably, with maybe some drag- queen- prophet, maybe with subject of roofs, flying and gays- as bigotry should be called for equally, right and honest. If not, that advert will be no more than bigotry itself, making fun of one religious ( not just cultural) beliefs but ignoring others as less pressing apparently- such a modern take.

    Go, Norway, show equality!
