Covid in Scotland: People urged to cancel Christmas parties

  1. Christmas is being slowly scraped into the bin. The numbers will blow up by the 18th, segueing into more restrictions and the same travel ‘ban’ as last year.

Anyone thinking of going to Scotland for Christmas probably shouldn’t. You won’t be welcomed, you will be blamed for every new case, you will very likely be stuck in a shitty post-Christmas circuit breaker and won’t be able to do anything.

  2. England just announced new restrictions that are in line with those already in place in Scotland.

Naturally, Scotland now needs to one-up them. They need to be seen as tougher than England on Covid.

    They’re very insecure.

  3. Vaccines are the route out of this folks first we need to ensure the most vulnerable to the infection are covered …. oh wait.

  4. If people are all vaccinated them why wouldn’t they gather together? Are we supposed to avoid other human beings indefinitely?

  5. And just leave pubs and clubs high and dry. These places can stay open so we don’t need to give them any support, but please don’t go to them anyway.

  6. I mean I doubt people in Scotland will do that not only due to vaccines helping preventing serious cases but also due to Boris and gangs party. It’s best to try and tell people to party safety and test after for a week or so

  7. Plenty will, plenty won’t. People seem to be more split on how much to worry about the new variant, especially as vaccines and boosters have been available for so long now. I can certainly see larger gatherings cancelled, however I expect smaller ones to go ahead. I expect more people will meet up in someone’s house too.

  8. No ones following any of this bullshit anymore. I was in support of lockdown 1 and accepted 2, I agree that masks should be work in public spaces and that to go to events you should test negative.

HOWEVER! These narcistical, self serving cock fumblers are taking the UK citizens for a ride. Time after time the rules have been broken by the government and its us that gets screwed by it. Cancellations, lockdowns, whatever comes, ain’t no one following anymore, not another Christmas trashed for us commoners whilst Boris and his cronies have a laugh at our expense.

Had they been actual leaders than we probably would be more willing to it. But they can all fuck right off.

I’ll be testing my eye sight on my way to a business meeting with some light nibbles of cheese and wine.

  9. Haha imagine listening to the government telling you that you can’t see you friends and family, never mind for 2 years in a row.

Please Madame sturgeon, can I take a shit?

  10. I’ll be honest I have never ever had a Christmas party.
Sure I’ll go round to mums and watch some shirty film, maybe a glass – a tall glass of whatever piss asda is selling the week before that but I’d hardly call that partying.

I once worked a Christmas event where 500 people went to some ballroom and power clapped some cult leader, had a drivvel speech – then got blind drunk and trashed the place.

Don’t really want to spend my Christmas- or any weekend that rat arsed tbh

  11. My university (in England) sent round an email yesterday asking everyone to cancel any Christmas parties or lunches.
Other than that my workplace hasn’t really rolled back on that many measures brought in last year. Still have to wear masks, socially distance and book time in the building, it was only in the past month that they opened a limited cafeteria (hot food yet to return).

  12. Couldn’t care less about office parties, but I am not cancelling any of the handful of gatherings planned with family and friends this Christmas. Not happening. We will do LFTs, everyone is vaccinated as per their age and availability. Enough is enough.
