Finally, an encouragement to go outside of Dublin…
Here’s hoping they pay more tax than just what the employees do via PAYE
Hey all, Irish living in US here. I wanted to give you all an upbeat story on the IDA. So a couple years back the small but growing company I work for were looking into starting a European office. Folks seemed to look at UK as the default option and immediately started working on whatever was needed. So at a certain point I asked why they didn’t look into Ireland since Ireland is now staying in the EU among other advantages. So the bosses involved said they were not opposed to it but were well under way in picking the UK. So I sent them to the IDA and let it go at that. 3-4 weeks later the exec in charge of the move came back to me gushing about the service of the IDA. The UK bunch would charge for various reports, seemed arrogant/not caring etc but the IDA not only provided the reports/intel for free but also assigned essentially a “concierge” and helped them find offices, walked them through it , guided them through the whole shebang. Anyway, they do good work, saw it first hand. I think the concierge lad started working for us at the end of it.
This is terrible for me. With eli lilly adding 800 jobs and regeneron still hiring and now 600 more analog jobs the traffic in the estate will be getting worse.
I joke but I might start cycling to work if it does get bad
Couldn’t they just pick 600 people and give them a million euro each? Easier all round.
Will they match jobs with all infrastructure needed ie houses, transport, GPs, schools etc?
