So Malcolm Byrne has now been made to step into the firing line for Niall Collins and his potential illegal activities related to his wife’s land purchase.
FF backbenchers and also local councillors, many of which are/were estate agents and/or landlords are now putting pressure on Martin to do something about the ditch lads because they are shitting themselves that they will dig up their past dealings.
You love to see it!
I can’t see SIPO embracing an argument that a press outlet like the Ditch is a third party for the purposes of the Electoral Acts. That would seem to raise a whole heap of freedom of the press type issues.
That said, I’m no solicitor and I’m struggling to find the definition of a third party (I understand that it’s something akin to a political party or campaigning group?). eISB refers to section 22(2)(aa) of the Electoral Act 1997, but the LRC doesn’t have a consolidation and I can’t quite see what inserted it in?
FF is hilarious with their complaints about the press it would almost make you think that they are hiding so much more.
This a precedent for “super packs” were you can donate more than laws allow, pay for discrediting ads, etc
Should we all send letters to SIPO about the Irishtimes and Independent?
Not gonna lie, all this talk from FF and FG about the Ditch are quite unsettling, maybe don’t do sketchy shit and then it won’t be reported on. Seriously wouldn’t be surprised to see censorship laws in a few years
