  1. I’m surprised and delighted there’s enough people for a parade 😊
And surprised the hotdogs actually are more expensive than in Norway 😂
And curious if the “pølse i lefse” is actually in lefse or if they mean lompe 🤔

  2. I watched the May 17 parade in Seattle in 2000. At the time I was an exchange student in Olympia, WA. It was a good day, the parade was spectacular. I was truly touched how much you had worked to keep the memory of our country and Constitution Day alive.

  3. I’m curious, what’s with the Swedish flags? I mean, we’re celebrating our independence after freeing ourselves from Swedish rule

  4. I had no idea they celebrated Syttende Mai in Seattle! I don’t live far from there and now I’m really sad I missed it. Thanks for the pictures though!

  5. I’ve never heard of pølse i lefse (the quintessential hot dog wrapping is lompe), and “smørrebrød” is Danish (should be “smørbrød”), but otherwise this seems pretty nice!

I’ve never been to Washington state, but from what I know about it (Twin Peaks and various other media) it seems pretty Norwegian-esque. Definitely feels like one of the US states I’d feel most at home in.

  6. Seattle has the biggest Syttende Mai celebration and parade outside Norway. As often, blessed with wonderful weather for his year again.
Always a fun event, and there are many local organizations represented, making it ‘more’ than just Norway, but it will forever be the Norwegian traditions that anchors this event.
    ‘Ja vi elsker…’ 😍

  7. If it all wasn’t so wholesome, I would have thought “Sons of Norway” was a neo-nazi organisation. That font as well

  8. These are wonderful! My grandparents came to US from
Norway, I need to make it to Seattle for next year’s celebration!!!
