Enough with the bullshit excuses. We know Brexit was a big part of this.

They know that we know it’s bullshit. Do more than just comment sceptical apathy.
So what is it exactly that these useless cunts in government are doing, because I can’t see anything being done to fix or improve a single issue this country is currently facing? No horticulture strategy focusing on growth of produce in the UK despite importing half of our fruit and veg, now the climate crisis, Brexit and shit economic policies threatening our food supply…unbelievable they are so blasé about this.

If only the poors would stop buying food, we could bring demand and inflation down. (/s)
Well, it’s true. In other parts of the world, they’ll have famine and shortages. In richer parts of the world, we’ll still have food but the price will be higher.
Already happened / happening really. Rice is increasing in price after poor harvests in Italy last year due to drought
I think people will be much more understanding of rising food prices if supermarkets stop announcing record profits.
After a while we all just get used to how much it costs, and then it’s nornal. If you can, just leave.
Im sure it will have nothing to do with the government scrapping subsidies for farmers.
I should point out that all the borrowing this government has done over 13 years has to be paid back, and if they don’t want the rich to pay more one way they can lessen the real term costs is for inflation to reduce the value of the debt. The debt figure stays the same but the value of the debt has come down.
This government gave money to the wealthy, borrowed money to do so and is now making everyone pay for this by allowing inflation to run wild.
They are quite happy for most people to be poorer because it has helped them give money to the wealthy.
There is no crisis that cannot be used as an opportunity make money.
So the grand plan is continue with half the world going hungry, nearly half the world being robbed blind, and a tiny group of people with nearly all the wealth and 17 super yachts each?
Maybe the world can no longer afford billionaires?
Meanwhile, half the country are sat in their cars with the AC on full whack.
“Why is it so hot now?”
Kek.
Is this the climate change that they won’t do anything about?
Did they spell “capitalist pig dog greed’ incorrectly?
Profits still rolling in? Ummm. This is fucking hard to work out, eh?
Ah yes, buried in the article is the reference to supply chains, also code to you and I as Brexit.
Keep hearing on the radio that it’s due to the war in Ukraine, but now it’s apparently the climate crisis? Why can’t they just tell us that the rich people want to milk as much money out of the average person because they can?
But why is it worse in britian then everywhere else its bad everywhere but worse in britian
How is this normal. When the greedy fat cats are getting richer and we are struggling to put food on the table. But the sad thing is that we don’t see anyone lining the streets. We seem to have a shut up and put up culture.
You don’t have firms making the biggest profits they’ve seen in years without them being greedy and exploiting the consumer.
We’re seeing this in energy and financials services especially, but also FMCG..
Well, we we’ve known for a long time that food insecurity was coming. Shockingly enough it’s come.
I keep saying it but those decades of cheap energy came with some small print I’m guessing most people didn’t read. Ya’ll invested the savings wisely, right?
Its been this way for 50 plus years people noticing it more cause the crunch.
It’s called Normalization, make people get used to it, then never mention it again. It’s only a ‘crisis’ if the newspapers say it is.
Food inflation is a fancy way of saying corporate greed
That’s cool
Shop lifting & scanning every expensive item as a banana or apple at the self service till will become a normal state of affairs too.
Thought it was the war in Ukraine, or have they just been feeding us bulllshit and telling us it’s caviar this whole time?
Absolute horse shit! It’s due to greed & greed only. Fuck outta here
Let’s hope a job fruit picking will pay well enough to cover this, £1000+ a month rent and the continuing soaring energy bills, not to mention petrol.
Hahahaha! All our money is being stolen by corporations and the government in a vague guise of environmentalism and placed on individuals not corporations.
Ok, so let’s solve climate crisis, what does it need? Oh! Even more money from us? But what about all the record profits on top of government mismanaged spending *cough* NHS *cough* – oh! Not that money? You need _new_ money. Riiiiight.
Well let’s listen to the WEF and produce even less food, and close farms, that would surely help.
Our world is being drived to hell by sociopaths that wants to own the world.
– and you’re doing something about the climate crisis??
– gov: good lord no!! We need to cut the green crap even more!!
I wouldn’t mind things being more expensive if the people I’m buying them from weren’t constantly announcing record profits. It just tells me this isn’t an inflation issue, it’s a greed issue. If the cost has gone up for all of us their profits should be the same
How to get the left to shut up and just accept something? Simple, just add the magic words: “because climate change”.
There was an MP for somewhere in Kent that told an anecdote about a farmer who grew apples in an orchard last year. Supposedly the farmer couldn’t get staff to harvest them (because brexit and wage issues) so this year they were growing less apples and importing from the EU to make up the difference.
Farmers were sold some of the biggest lies during the Brexit campaign but there have always been some exploitation of crop pickers. Unfortunately I doubt that the rise in food prices is actually to pay pickers a fair wage and more because Brexit red tape and greed in other sectors.
Climate crisis eh? nothing to do with the fuel crisis and the Ukraine war which saw us cut fuel consumption from Russia over the past years with price rises and record oil profits as a result, nothing to do with the Nordstream gas pipe explosion which made the situation worse skyrocketing transportation costs which our food relies on.
Nope it’s Climate crisis go back to sleep, if people were paying attention there were told this was going to happen or is happening already and to prepare.
This is the same energy as “you’re going to be poorer, get over it” which the overlords are trotting out now.
So wait, it’s not the war in Ukraine, or Covid closing the economy for two years, or 700k net immigration in 2022, but it’s the climate crisis?
Honestly I think we’ll see more structural problems blamed on the ethereal and hard to measure ‘climate crisis’.
Not saying I don’t believe in it, just that the government will be happy to blame all their problems on something they can do little about)
I thought this was due to the invasion of Ukraine? Now its climate related?
They mean energy crisis.
Plenty of gas and coal in the UK when we wake up to the biggest con job.
I heard on the news that prices have come down but because shops have bought high they want to sell high before they buy new stock.

But they don’t think that way when they stock and the budget puts it up they then sell old stock at the higher price lose every time.

its like the petrol price per barrel has come down but we are not seeing the reduced prices, my friend said recently oh the prices are cheaper ? really but they went up before hand and have not come back down to the cheaper prices that we should have by now.
Do you want to know what I would love to see?
The tories and shareholders just being honest and saying that prices are increasing not because of the climate, the war in Ukraine, covid, or any other bullshit reason, but because of profit. Despite record profits, more profit must be made and we’re the ones who have to provide it.
Just quit the bullshit
A daylight robbery all in the great name of a climate crisis (an excuse to rob from the populous with an excuse) winters are cold summers are hot that’s the way our climate has been for centuries.
Farmers can’t afford heating for greenhouse fruit and veg doesn’t help.
