Iceland has already sold up to The Project Point Technologies Limited under Naeem Maniar who ran the Iceland franchise here before. The last time he was in charge they had to apply to the high court for an examiner. I’d say those jobs are already gone..the emails just haven’t been sent yet.
Fuck them, if they can’t meet their obligations under the Employment law for staff, they need to be reported to the authorities and be fined for each incident, through the labour courts as well.
If someone is verbally dismissed without reason or due process, again the union should be advising on how to pursue that through the labour and employment laws. Its black and white
More of us should be following their example and be going on strike
Good luck to them, hope they get what they’re looking for.
First Russia now Iceland…
I walk past an iceland, been thinking about going in for a look and a shop to see the prices. definitely not doing that now.
It’s gone very expensive, presumably since Brexit.
There’s one in Galway that is so quiet when I’ve been in there I don’t think anyone would notice a strike
I used to work in an Iceland for 4 years. Treated horribly and never set foot in one since. Glad they’re finally unionising and striking.
Any place that does the lower minimum wage shite for under 18s is always a shower of cunts.
Ridiculous that it’s still a thing, especially for stuff like retail etc, it’s not exactly like an apprenticeship etc, they’re doing the exact same job as anyone else.
Hup the workers! Best of luck
Up shifting, up the workers!
Is the strike only one day, indefinite or some other period?
