    >*Does this mean that there may be too high amounts of sulfur dioxide in the air?* ***The Flemish Environmental Inspectorate says that it has no reason to think so****: “**ArcelorMittal itself is responsible for the measurements**, but that is also customary.* ***We currently have no reason to assume that the measurements are incorrect or that the exposure values have been exceeded.****”*

With such strong Inspectorate, what company would dare to pollute or give false measurements? /s

edit: to me it is amazing that news like this are almost without presence in the media or even interest here in reddit. At this moment, 17 votes, 16 comments… amazing.

  2. Jesus Christ how can anyone doubt this. Especially on winter mornings the air in Ghent can be so filthy. You go outside and it literally reeks. And our children bike to school through that stench. I guess there’s plenty of politicians in the board of directors at Arcelor Mittal because I never hear anyone make a single noise about this.

  3. Don’t worry, the company keeps track of the levels and the government “has no reasons to doubt them”. It’s a foolproof system!

  6. So let me get this straight. This sulphur dioxide is so toxic that they have to install a big, expensive filter to make sure it’s not released into the air. But right now there is no filter, so all of it is released into the air, and they’re saying it’s totally fine.
